LSU moved to No. 7 in both major polls after Week 2. The biggest reason for confidence is not hype; it is the combination of quarterback mobility, explosive skill talent and a defense that has already shown it can suffocate a quality opponent.

Why LSU can win in Oxford

Sam Leavitt changes the geometry of a defense. Against Clemson he threw for 230 yards, rushed for 113 more and accounted for three touchdowns. When a quarterback can punish man coverage with his legs, pressure packages become more dangerous for the defense calling them. Ole Miss has to account for Leavitt even when every LSU receiver is covered.

LSU also enters this game with proof that its defense can dictate a night. Clemson managed only 10 points in the opener.
