LSU vs. Arkansas Football History: Golden Boot Series Record & Rivalry

1 min read

LSU-Arkansas is one of the SEC’s most distinctive trophy rivalries, with the winner taking possession of the enormous Golden Boot and bragging rights across neighboring states.

LSU vs. Arkansas all-time series record

LSU led the series 45-23-2 through 2024. The Tigers beat Arkansas 23-22 in Baton Rouge in 2025, extending LSU’s advantage to 46-23-2.

What is the Golden Boot?

The Golden Boot trophy was introduced before the 1996 game. LSU describes it as a four-foot, nearly 200-pound trophy molded from 24-karat gold in the shape of Louisiana and Arkansas. It is believed to be the heaviest trophy awarded in a college football rivalry.

Memorable chapters

  • The 2007 game saw Arkansas upset No. 1 LSU 50-48 in triple overtime, though LSU still advanced to and won the national championship.

  • The 2010 meeting featured a top-15 matchup with Arkansas winning 31-23.

  • LSU has controlled the recent series, winning in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Why the rivalry still matters

Conference realignment has disrupted some annual matchups, but the Golden Boot remains one of the SEC’s most recognizable rivalry trophies. The game carries regional recruiting implications and often arrives late enough in the season to affect bowl and postseason positioning.
