1 min read

LSU and Texas A&M have a football history that predates the Aggies’ arrival in the SEC, but conference membership turned the matchup into an annual high-stakes rivalry with recruiting, postseason and divisional implications.

LSU vs. Texas A&M all-time series record

LSU led the series 36-24-3 through 2024. Texas A&M won 49-25 in Baton Rouge in 2025, making the record 36-25-3 in LSU’s favor entering 2026.

How the rivalry changed after Texas A&M joined the SEC

Texas A&M joined the SEC in 2012, creating a natural border-state matchup between programs that recruit many of the same players in Louisiana and Texas. Since then, the series has become one of LSU’s most important annual measuring sticks.

Memorable modern meetings

  • The 2018 seven-overtime game ended 74-72 in Texas A&M’s favor and became one of the wildest games in college football history.

  • LSU answered with a 50-7 blowout in 2019 during its national championship season.

  • Texas A&M won 38-23 in 2024 and 49-25 in 2025, giving the Aggies recent momentum entering 2026.

Why the 2026 game matters

The 2026 matchup returns to Tiger Stadium on Sept. 26. It sits early in LSU’s SEC schedule and follows the road game at Ole Miss, making it an important checkpoint in the first season under Lane Kiffin.
