Did Texas A&M Reveal the Best Version of Sam Leavitt — as a Pocket Passer?

Sam Leavitt injured his right hamstring against Texas A&M, which limited his mobility. He still completed 17 of 23 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns in LSU’s 35-6 win. Kiffin said the hamstring will take some time to recover, although Leavitt was able to continue playing. Yahoo Sports

TigerHype Staff take: There’s an interesting football question buried inside the injury. Earlier this season, opponents wanted Leavitt contained because his legs were so dangerous. Against A&M, being forced to stay in the pocket may have made him more patient and decisive as a passer. LSU obviously wants him healthy — but maybe the lesson is that Kiffin does not need Leavitt escaping the pocket as often as he has been.

When Leavitt is healthy again, should LSU intentionally ask him to scramble less and play more like he did against Texas A&M — or would that take away one of the biggest weapons in his game?
