Tamarcus Cooley at STAR, Jhase Thomas at Safety — Are You Comfortable With LSU’s New Secondary?
Dashawn Spears is out for the season following the Ole Miss game. When Spears left, LSU shifted Tamarcus Cooley into the STAR role and Jhase Thomas took over Cooley’s safety responsibilities. LSU has not announced that as a permanent depth-chart change, but it is the clearest immediate configuration entering Texas A&M week.
TigerHype take: Moving Cooley makes sense because of his experience and versatility.
The bigger question may be behind him.
Marcel Reed creates scramble drills, broken-pocket situations and coverage stress—the exact kind of plays where communication between a new STAR/safety combination matters most.
So what do you think? Are you comfortable with Cooley at STAR and Jhase Thomas getting more safety snaps?
Or would you rather LSU change the defensive package to protect the secondary until everyone settles into the new roles?
