Whit Weeks Injury: Who Replaces LSU’s Defensive Captain at Linebacker?
LSU linebacker and defensive captain Whit Weeks suffered a fractured lower right leg during Saturday’s 35-6 win over Texas A&M and is out indefinitely. Lane Kiffin said Sunday that LSU expected to learn whether Weeks might return late this season or be lost for the year. Davhon Keys is his primary backup and has 11 tackles through four games, while Tylen Singleton is another option. LSU also lost reserve linebacker Charles Ross for the season against Texas A&M. Yahoo Sports
TigerHype Staff take: LSU just held Texas A&M to 197 total yards, so the defense has earned a lot of trust. But replacing Weeks is about more than tackles — it means replacing communication, experience and one of the emotional leaders of the unit. This feels like the first real test of LSU’s defensive depth.
If Whit Weeks is out long-term, who should get the majority of those snaps — Davhon Keys, Tylen Singleton, or should LSU reshape the defense instead of trying to replace Weeks one-for-one?
