Melania Trump to Attend LSU–Alabama as LSU Creates $5 Million Foster-Care Endowment

A major off-field announcement is now part of LSU–Alabama weekend in Baton Rouge. LSU and First Lady Melania Trump have established a $5 million permanent scholarship endowment for students who experienced foster care, and the First Lady is scheduled to attend Saturday’s game at Tiger Stadium.

Quick Answer

First Lady Melania Trump will visit LSU on Saturday, November 7, 2026, and attend the LSU–Alabama football game at Tiger Stadium. The White House says LSU and the First Lady secured $5 million for a permanent Fostering the Future scholarship endowment supporting LSU students who experienced foster care. LSU–Alabama kicks off at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

What did LSU and the First Lady announce?

The official White House announcement, dated November 4, says the $5 million will establish a permanent endowment at Louisiana State University. The fund is intended to support Fostering the Future scholarships for LSU students who experienced foster care.

That distinction matters: this is not a one-game promotion or a short-term campaign pledge. A permanent endowment is designed to provide ongoing scholarship support, giving the announcement a life beyond Saturday’s LSU–Alabama spotlight.

Local station WAFB also reported that the First Lady will take part in a campus ceremony before attending the game, reinforcing the Baton Rouge connection to the announcement.

What will the $5 million endowment support?

The stated purpose is direct scholarship support for LSU students who have experienced foster care. The White House release does not specify the number of annual awards, individual scholarship amounts, selection criteria or the date applications will open.

Those details should come from LSU as the university moves from the announcement to implementation. Until LSU publishes application guidance, the verified takeaway is the size, permanence and intended student population of the fund—not assumptions about who qualifies or how much any student will receive.

What will happen at the LSU–Alabama game?

The White House says the Fostering the Future campaign will activate across LSU’s campus and on the field during the visit. The release does not provide a minute-by-minute ceremony schedule or announce public access to any separate event.

LSU’s official 2026 football schedule lists the Tigers against No. 9 Alabama at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, November 7, with a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ABC.

What LSU fans should know before Saturday

The public announcement does not list any new parking, gate or prohibited-item rules tied specifically to the First Lady’s visit. Fans should follow LSU’s normal official game-day channels for any late operational changes and use TigerHype’s LSU–Alabama parking, gate and safety guide as a planning starting point.

Conditions also look favorable in the current LSU–Alabama weather forecast. Closer to kickoff, Tiger fans can track the LSU–Alabama availability-report schedule and revisit the series history and recent results for the football context around one of the SEC’s defining matchups.

Why this matters beyond football

LSU–Alabama guarantees a national stage, but the lasting part of this development is the endowment. The game supplies visibility; the scholarship fund is the piece built to remain.

For LSU, the announcement connects a marquee home game to a specific student-support commitment. For fans, the cleanest way to understand the moment is to separate the verified institutional news from the spectacle around it: $5 million, a permanent endowment and scholarships aimed at LSU students with foster-care experience.
