LSU Drops to No. 11 After Beating No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 — Did AP Voters Get It Wrong?

LSU entered Saturday ranked No. 10, beat No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6, and somehow fell one spot to No. 11 in Sunday’s AP Top 25. BYU, which did not play, sits five voting points ahead of LSU at No. 10. Ole Miss lost 52-28 to Florida but remains No. 9 after beating LSU head-to-head one week earlier. KSAT

TigerHype Staff take: I understand rewarding head-to-head results, so keeping Ole Miss ahead of LSU is defensible. The harder part to understand is LSU dropping after dismantling a ranked SEC opponent while several teams around it lost. The rankings clearly value the Ole Miss loss heavily.

Forget preseason reputation — where should LSU actually be ranked today? Give us your number and the teams directly ahead of LSU you would move below the Tigers.

Whit Weeks Injury: Who Replaces LSU’s Defensive Captain at Linebacker?

LSU linebacker and defensive captain Whit Weeks suffered a fractured lower right leg during Saturday’s 35-6 win over Texas A&M and is out indefinitely. Lane Kiffin said Sunday that LSU expected to learn whether Weeks might return late this season or be lost for the year. Davhon Keys is his primary backup and has 11 tackles through four games, while Tylen Singleton is another option. LSU also lost reserve linebacker Charles Ross for the season against Texas A&M. Yahoo Sports

TigerHype Staff take: LSU just held Texas A&M to 197 total yards, so the defense has earned a lot of trust. But replacing Weeks is about more than tackles — it means replacing communication, experience and one of the emotional leaders of the unit. This feels like the first real test of LSU’s defensive depth.

If Whit Weeks is out long-term, who should get the majority of those snaps — Davhon…

Sam Leavitt Injury vs. McNeese: Should LSU Rest Its Starting QB Next Week?

Leavitt said after the Texas A&M game that he pulled a hamstring in the second quarter but expects to be “just fine.” He still threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, while backup Landen Clark handled several red-zone snaps and scored twice. LSU hosts McNeese on Oct. 3 before returning to SEC play. WDSU

TigerHype Staff take: McNeese creates an interesting decision. LSU could use the game to keep Leavitt sharp, but after the shoulder/back issues around Ole Miss and now a hamstring issue, there is a legitimate argument for getting Clark meaningful work and protecting QB1.

If Leavitt is medically cleared but not 100%, do you start him for a quarter, sit him completely, or play him normally?

Jackson Harris vs. Texas A&M: Has LSU Found Its No. 1 Receiver?

Jackson Harris caught six passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns against Texas A&M, including the 57-yard fourth-down touchdown that broke the game open in the third quarter. Sam Leavitt finished 17-of-23 for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Tiger Rag

TigerHype Staff take: One breakout game does not automatically make Harris WR1, but Saturday changed the conversation. With Trey’Dez Green injured and LSU still sorting through its pass-catching hierarchy, Harris just made a very loud case for a bigger role.

If LSU had to choose one player as its primary receiving target right now, are you taking Jackson Harris, Winnie Watkins, Eugene Wilson III or a healthy Trey’Dez Green?
